FINAL FANTASY: BRAVE EXVIUS REVIEW

Role playing games have always been an entertaining way to blow a long weekend or to just simply pass some time. So if you have some time to kill and looking for a great game, Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius got you covered.

Final Fantasy is a popular role-playing video game franchise developed and owned by Square Enix. This series has different gameplay, settings, stories and main characters but features almost the same elements that establish the franchise.

I have heard about this well-liked games and there are almost a hundred game titles out in the market right now however Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius is the very first FF game that I am able to play.

My boyfriend has been an avid fan of the franchise since he was a kid and I just got curious of the game when we watched Final Fantasy XV: Kingsglaive movie a week ago. And since I know that he's been playing and even made a review of Mobius Final Fantasy, I decided to try an FF game and make a review of it. That's when I found Brave Exvius.

Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius is a mobile role playing game for iOS and Android devices.

The story is set in a world filled of fantasies, Lapis, where all Magic Crystals exist alongside a powerful force called Vision which is the manifestation of people's memories and emotions given life which made the whole world prospered. However, just like all other stories, darkness will find its way to put the world in peril by destroying all the crystals. With the help of the main characters, you will need to fight monsters, complete quests and find a way of saving the world from destruction.

Rain and Lasswell
The game introduced the main characters - Rain and Lasswell - two knights of the kingdom of Grandshelt. After fighting some monsters on their airship, a girl trapped in a crystal appeared and asked for help.

She warned them about a threat to the crystals and told them to go to the Earth Shrine. Though this is a diversion from their original mission, Rain decided to heed the warning of the girl. Despite Lasswell's initial objection, they visited the Earth Shrine and fought different monsters along the way.

Upon reaching the chamber of the Earth Crystal, the villain has been introduced and witnesed how he shattered the earth crystal. The girl in the crystal reappeared and gave Rain and Laswell the power of Vision.

And when they came back, they found their soldiers killed and the airship destroyed. From there, you get to guide the characters to return to their kingdom and so their adventure.

GAMEPLAY

It is such a delight to play since the game is designed as a turn-based role playing game. And since it is touch controlled, you can choose what character will be the first to attack  or the enemy to attack by simply tapping on the screen of your phone.

There are also special skills and items that can be used during battles by swiping on the stats buttons and selecting the desired commands. Like some other role playing games, you will gain experience to level up by fighting monsters and also earned money and acquire a few items that you will need as the game progress. You can form a party of five and you can even bring a companion from your friends to tag along during battles.

You can advance through dungeons by fighting your way through different monsters and by defeating the end boss. What special about this game is its Esper system.

Espers are powerful beasts that you can equip to any of your characters that will enhance their stats and allow them to use new abilities. You also got to summon rare characters using in game currencies.

It also allows you to explore through towns and talk to people and even complete quests in exploration dungeons.

MUSIC

The music is hypnotizing and makes you feel into it whenever you play the game. It always matches the mood of the stories which is great. For me the music of Brave Exvius is quite epic.

OVERALL

I started to love the game the moment I heard the music and met the characters Rain and Lasswell. I kind of like these two since the other one has a carefree demeanor while the latter has a no-nonsense attitude that makes the duo interesting.

The graphics is good for a typical free to play mobile game and leveling up isn't that easy as the game progress which makes you want to play more. It also introduces different fascinating characters that gives the story and the game itself its worth. One more thing that I like about this is it seems that there's a story behind the main story that makes it more interesting.

And since I just started playing this, I still haven't noticed anything unlikable about the game. It even provides you instructions on what to do which are really easy to understand.

Well this is the first Final Fantasy game I ever played so I don't know if it can par with the other games of the series. But all in all, the game is epic and I'm looking forward to see all the other characters in the game.

  1. I was going to complain that the images were too small but then I saw that I can click on them to zoom in for a better look at the gameplay - thanks! :)

  4. I'm a final Fantasy fanatic but somehow I don't feel the latest final Fantasy have given me back the feeling I've had when I have played them in my childhood. I've tried brave exius and there were some things I liked about it - definitely the turn based system. But I also felt the game was too much follower of mobile game dynamics which I'm not that much a fan of. At the moment the ff game I am most excited about is world of final Fantasy (I reviewed it at one of my blogs at www.louderthansilver.com) and I've also watched kingsglaive with my boyfriend which one of us will definitely review it at some point. Additionally I've also pre ordered final fantasy xv.. Haha what can I say. Final Fantasy addict here

  5. Ah, gaming. That was quite a period of my life time that I spend on video games or just watching other people play them. I did try Final Fantasy once, but I did not like it as much. Recently because I have been sick I am replaying Far Cry 3 just to pass time, because why not. It's a great way to get your mind of your way.

  9. Hello Kio,

Okay I admit I am waaaaaayyyy behind with this Final Fantasy! I remember I tried playing this back in college (an hour before my exam, lol) and watched some of its movies. I admire the creators talent, and the plot. Even my brother is crazy about it, hahaha.
